Studio Lighting

This is a series of three picture I took of my friend Sam in the back studio of our school. Each picture was taken using two modeling lights arranged in different positions. I used my Nikon D7000 and my 50mm 1.8 lens, the camera was mounted on a tripod and the subject was seated on a chair. For photo 1 (top) the settings were ISO 200, f3.3, 1/125. For photo 2 (middle) the settings were ISO 200, f3.3, 1/60. For photo 3 (bottom) the setting were ISO 200, 1/45.

I like the sharpness of the three photos, I found that the area were the pictures were most sharp was around Sam's eyes. I think that these three pictures were successful in that they are well exposed and are a good well constructed portrait photograph.

One thing that i could have improved upon may have been a more exiting background, I think a nice blown out background would have looked really nice with these three photos. The gradient look that exists behind the subject is a little tacky.
